Troops Foil ISWAP Attack in Mairari, Two Soldiers Lost

Troops engaged in a fierce firefight with ISWAP insurgents on Wednesday night while defending the Forward Operating Base in Mairari. The operation, led by spokesperson Moham Goni, resulted in the death of two soldiers from the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

The troops managed to inflict heavy casualties on the insurgents, destroying their equipment and recovering AK-47 rifles, loaded magazines, and rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) tubes. The attack was noted as a desperate attempt by terrorists to instill fear among the recently resettled 950 households in the area.

Goni confirmed that there were no civilian casualties during the assault, and he expressed condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers. The clash highlighted the ongoing security challenges in the region as troops continue to thwart insurgent activities.
