Troops Rescue 14 Abductees, Recover 281 Livestock in Sokoto

Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 8 Division Garrison successfully rescued 14 abducted persons and recovered 281 rustled livestock in Shagari Local Government Area, Sokoto. This operation occurred after a distress call was received from Horo Birni Village, where bandits had attacked residents, abducting individuals and stealing livestock.

The soldiers intercepted the fleeing bandits, engaging them in a fierce gun battle that forced the criminals to abandon their captives and stolen animals. During the operation, the troops recovered 195 cows, 84 sheep, two camels, and two motorcycles left behind by the fleeing bandits.

All 14 abductees were rescued unharmed. A credible security source described the operation as a significant success in the military's ongoing offensive against banditry in North-West Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of community support and timely intelligence in sustaining such successes.
