Troops Rescue 14 Kidnapped Civilians in Sokoto Operation

Troops of the 8 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army successfully rescued 14 kidnapped civilians and recovered 281 rustled livestock during an operation in Horo Birni Village, Shagari Local Government Area, Sokoto State. The operation took place on Tuesday after troops received distress calls from local residents.

Bandits had invaded the village, taking victims and livestock before troops engaged them with superior firepower, forcing the bandits to flee, abandoning the captives and animals. The troops found the rescued civilians unharmed and secured them for documentation and potential reunion with their families.

The operation yielded significant recoveries, including 195 cows, 84 sheep, two camels, and two motorcycles believed to belong to the fleeing bandits. The source credited the success to effective collaboration among security agencies and timely intelligence from the community.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, which has been actively combating banditry and kidnapping in the region.
