Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo: A Rising Star in Ondo Politics

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, at 44, has emerged as a significant figure in Ondo State politics. As the Minister of Interior, he gained national recognition by clearing over 200,000 passport applications in three weeks and digitizing the renewal process.

His ministry also facilitated the release of over 4,000 inmates through fine-clearance schemes and approved promotions for thousands of paramilitary personnel. Tunji-Ojo has invested in his home state by funding digital technology hubs across all 18 local government areas, donating 14 ambulances to health centers, and providing learning materials to over 120,000 primary school pupils.

His political career began in the House of Representatives, where he represented Akoko North East and Akoko North West, and he was re-elected in 2023, breaking a long-standing rotational zoning arrangement. In the 2024 Ondo governorship election, his local government delivered an 81.2 percent vote share for the APC, the highest in the state.

He played a crucial role in stabilizing the state's leadership during a constitutional crisis preceding Lucky Aiyedatiwa's transition into office.
