Ondo Community Connect Expands to All 203 Wards

The Ondo Community Connect (OCC), a grassroots development initiative supported by Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has expanded its program to cover all 203 wards in Ondo State. The initiative allows communities to identify and prioritize their development needs, having recorded 800 registrations and delivered interventions in 74 communities.
Coordinator Iretidola Ojekhoa stated that the program aims to empower residents to determine impactful projects. For instance, in Ayede, residents prioritized the excavation of a blocked waterway due to flooding issues.
In Ireakari, solar streetlights were identified as a priority. The OCC has also provided solar infrastructure to Positive FM in Akure and supported the National Identity Management Commission office.
Additionally, beneficiaries trained in shoemaking and leatherwork received contracts to produce school bags and other items. Ojekhoa noted that the initiative was inspired by Kogi Connect but operates under a different sponsorship structure.
