PDP's Turaki Confident Party Will Overcome Leadership Crisis

Kabiru Turaki, the factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), asserted that the party will survive its current leadership crisis, referencing past internal disputes, particularly the one that led to the formation of the Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee. During a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, Turaki expressed confidence that the challenges faced today are not unprecedented, stating, “By the special grace of God, we shall overcome.” He mentioned a recent federal high court ruling on July 17, which dismissed a suit aimed at compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize his faction's interim national working committee.

Turaki accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of instigating crises within opposition parties. He affirmed the PDP's intention to participate in the 2027 elections, emphasizing that the party will remain on the ballot.

Babangida Aliyu, former governor of Niger State, also urged party unity and patience, criticizing politicians who defect for personal gain.
