Badejo-Okusanya Leads NBA Presidential Election 2026

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya has emerged as the frontrunner in the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) presidential election, securing 9,930 votes, which accounts for 45.82% of the total votes cast. The election faced challenges due to a cyberattack that disrupted the electronic voting process, leading to a delay in the commencement of voting originally scheduled for 12:00 PM on Saturday.

The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) reported that 21,665 lawyers successfully voted out of 82,164 registered voters, resulting in a voter turnout of 26.37%. Badejo-Okusanya's closest rival, Lateef Omoyemi Akangb, received 6,708 votes (30.99%), while Aar Olumuyiwa Akinboro garnered 5,021 votes (23.21%).

The ECNBA assured members that the voting infrastructure was secured and that no votes were compromised during the cyberattack. The election has attracted significant attention within the legal profession, with three distinguished senior advocates contesting for the highest office in the association.
