Tusks of terror: Elephant attacks leave Ogun community on edge

A tragic incident in the Itasin community of Ogun State has left residents on edge after a father of five was gruesomely mauled by a wandering elephant while working in the forest. The victim, Musa Yahaya Kala, was described as a logger who fell a tree within the elephant's domain.

The community has been facing the menace of elephants for the past seven years, with the animals destroying crops, fishing gear, and property. One resident, Musa Kalamu, lost his life in the recent attack, leaving his widow, Oluwaremi Oluwafunke, devastated as the elephant destroyed their farm.

Other victims, including Bello Kunle and Kazeem Badmus, shared their harrowing experiences of being attacked by elephants while working in the forest. The community is now calling on the Ogun State government to intervene and relocate the elephants to restore safety and normalcy to the area.
