Oyo Police Arrest Suspect with Pistol, Two Flee Scene

On July 11, 2026, at approximately 9:30 PM, the Oyo State Police Command conducted a stop-and-search operation along Oshuntokun Avenue in Bodija, Ibadan. During this operation, three males on a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number DTN 678 QA were intercepted.

While being searched, one suspect, identified as Ham Lateef, was arrested after he discarded a small bag near a drain. The bag was recovered and found to contain a locally fabricated pistol, live cartridges, and a sachet of a substance believed to be tramadol.

Two other suspects fled the scene. Johnson Adenola, the State Commissioner of Police, assured residents of the command's commitment to proactive intelligence-led policing and urged the public to provide credible information to assist in tracking down the fleeing suspects.
