Oyo Police Arrest Three for Alleged Vehicle Theft

On July 3, 2026, the Oyo State Police Command arrested three suspects, including 60-year-old Femi Ojo, for their involvement in a vehicle theft in Ibadan. The incident began when Ruben Adebayo, a 55-year-old resident of Akobo, reported that his Toyota Carina E, marked GGE 488 CN, was stolen while he was at the Akobo motor spare parts market.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Ojo, the principal suspect, engaged Adebayo in negotiations for purchasing vehicle engine spare parts. After unsuccessful negotiations, Ojo directed Adebayo to a new location to obtain a vehicle shaft, assuring him of a quicker process.

Upon returning to the original parking spot, Adebayo discovered his vehicle was missing. Following the report, the police initiated an intelligence-led investigation, leading to the arrest of Ojo and two accomplices, Kayod Afolabi and Olatunji Mutiu, who were found to have sold the stolen vehicle for N700,000 and resold it for N800,000.
