Two Sentenced for Violent Burglary of Donnarumma

On July 21, 2023, Gianluigi Donnarumma, a goalkeeper for Paris Saint-Germain, and his then-fiancée, Alessia Elefante, were victims of a violent burglary at their luxury apartment on Avenue Montaigne in Paris. During the incident, they were bound and threatened at knifepoint by four masked men.

Donnarumma was beaten, while Elefante was choked with a charging cable, leading to a miscarriage attributed to the trauma. On Friday, Ilyas Kherbouch, the mastermind of the burglary, was sentenced to nine years in prison and fined 80,000 euros ($92,000) by the Paris Criminal Court.

Co-defendant Moktar D. received a five-year sentence, with two years suspended. A third defendant, Khyan M., was acquitted.

The couple was held captive as the assailants stole cash, jewelry, and luxury items valued at nearly one million euros ($1.1 million). The prosecutor noted the increasing targeting of celebrities in the area by youthful criminals.
