Ogun Fathers Investigated for Trafficking Daughters to Libya

Two fathers, Kehind Rashe, aged 45, and Oladimeji Akinsanya, aged 55, are currently under investigation by the Ogun State Command of the Nigerian Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for allegedly trafficking their daughters to Libya. The case centers around the trafficking of 15-year-old Rokibat Adeyemi, who was reportedly sent to Libya for child labor.

Bose Jimoh, a spokesperson for NAPTIP, disclosed that Rashe, a widow, allegedly trafficked his daughter, Afusat Akinsanya, to Libya in 2024. Rashe claimed that he received a call from Libya in 2018 informing him of his daughter's illness.

However, he allegedly attempted to conceal the circumstances surrounding Rokibat's death in Libya until family pressure led to police involvement. Following reports from aggrieved family members, both men were arrested, and the case has been transferred to NAPTIP for further investigation to ensure accountability and the safe return of another victim.
