Ceferin Rules Out FIFA Presidency Bid Amid Infantino Crisis

Aleksander Ceferin, the UEFA president, has publicly stated he is "not interested" in running for the FIFA presidency to replace Gianni Infantino. Ceferin's remarks came during an interview on The Rest is Politics podcast, where he emphasized his commitment to UEFA and the importance of enjoying life.

He warned that Infantino, who has faced increasing scrutiny over his now-abandoned plan to secure private investment in FIFA tournaments, must either resign or prepare for a leadership challenge. Ceferin noted that Infantino's previous strong support has diminished, and he may face a candidate against him if he seeks re-election at the FIFA Congress in Morocco in March.

Potential challengers include CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani and AFC president Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa. Infantino, who was in the Dominican Republic for meetings, acknowledged the recent controversies and emphasized the need for dialogue and support.
