ULM Alleges APC Plot to Disrupt Akwa Ibom Elections

The Uyo Liberation Movement (ULM) has issued a statement alleging a plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to infiltrate Akwa Ibom State's political landscape, specifically targeting the upcoming 2027 Uyo State constituency elections. ULM's Secretary General, Princ Emmanuel Sam, claims that the APC is attempting to impose impostor candidates to disrupt the political arrangement that has been in place since 1999, which rotates the state house assembly seat among four clans: Oku, Eto, Ikono, and Offot Ukwa.

The ULM emphasizes the importance of maintaining this rotational arrangement, which has seen each clan occupy the seat in a specific order. The group calls on citizens of Uyo to resist any attempts to disrupt this arrangement and urges opposition parties to remain vigilant.

Additionally, the Labour Party's national screening committee has disqualified certain gubernatorial aspirants associated with the APC, highlighting the ongoing tensions and the need for a united front among opposition parties in Akwa Ibom State.
