At 28 years old, Osborn Nweze Umahi claimed victory in the Ohaozara Local Government Area chairmanship race held on Saturday. He is the son of David Umahi, Nigeria's Minister of Works.

Running under the All Progressives Congress banner, the younger Umahi had previously secured his party's nomination before winning the election. Following his electoral success, the chairman-elect announced a striking pledge: he would forgo both salary and allowances during his time in office, channeling these resources back to Ohaozara residents instead.
