University of Abuja Denies External Influence in Appointments

The University of Abuja has officially denied allegations made by an online publication on July 28, 2026, suggesting that the appointment of a staff member to a senior management position was influenced by external forces, particularly the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.

In a statement signed by the Acting Director of Information and University Relations, Dr. Habib Yakoob, the university described these allegations as false, misleading, and lacking factual basis.

The university emphasized its autonomy and adherence to established laws and procedures in managing staff appointments. It stated that recruitment and managerial appointments are conducted strictly according to approved guidelines and due process, without external influence.

The university urged the public to disregard what it termed "spurious allegations" aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Dr. Alausa, while acknowledging his commitment to the development of Nigeria's higher education sector.

The management reaffirmed its focus on its mandate, dismissing the allegations as unfounded.
