UNICEF, FG, others launch maiden behavioural research on child survival

UNICEF, in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria and 19 universities, has launched the Behavioural Insights Research Design Lab (BIRDLab) - the first of its kind in Nigeria focused on child survival and development. The lab, part of the Network for Behavioural Research on Child Survival in Nigeria, will use Behavioural Science to inform initiatives on routine immunization, nutrition services, and more.

The findings will be translated into practical tools for government programs. The BIRDLab will operate online and at the University of Lagos, providing a space for researchers and practitioners to collaborate on real-world issues.

UNICEF hopes that the research will shape decisions on vaccination, feeding practices, school enrollment, and more, ultimately improving the lives of children and families across Nigeria through evidence-based policy and programs.
