Soldiers Assault UNIOSUN Students, Confiscate Phones

On Monday, soldiers reportedly invaded a hostel at the Osun State University (UNIOSUN), assaulting students and confiscating 60 mobile phones and electronic devices. The Vice Chancellor, Prof.

Clement Adebooy, disclosed that the matter has been referred to military authorities for assessment and to meet with affected students. The university expressed deep concern over the incident, which involved both male and female students, with two requiring hospitalization but later discharged.

Ademola Adesoji, from the university's public relations office, indicated that the soldiers stripped female students and assaulted male students during the operation. Although there were unverified reports of a female student being raped during the incident, no victims have been confirmed.

The university continues to investigate the matter, which has raised significant security concerns given the proximity of the military depot to the campus.
