Police Foil Cult Clash at UniPort, Arrest Corporal and Student

Security operatives thwarted a suspected cult clash at the University of Port Harcourt, arresting two individuals, including a serving police corporal and a student. The suspects, identified as Corporal Onwukwe Godswill and student Ifeanyi Israel, were intercepted with firearms and ammunition on September 26, 2025.

The police spokesperson, SP Grace, confirmed the recovery of weapons during a search operation on the campus. Additional weapons were found at Corporal Onwukwe's residence.

The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue into their alleged involvement in cult activities. The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has vowed to take tougher action against cultism in Rivers State.
