Badejo-Okusanya Elected 33rd NBA President Amid Challenges

On Sunday, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) elected Mr. Badejo-Okusanya SAN as its 33rd president, securing 12,317 votes, which represents 47.18% of the total votes cast.

His closest competitor, Lateef Akangb SAN, received 7,934 votes (30.39%), while the third candidate, AAR Olumuyiwa Akinboro SAN, garnered 5,855 votes (22.43%). The elections, which took place amid a significant cyberattack that nearly disrupted the process, recorded a total of 26,106 votes, marking a record turnout of 31.86% from 82,172 registered voters.

Mr. Afam Okek was elected as General Secretary with 8,478 votes.

The outgoing president, Mazi Afam Osigw SAN, acknowledged the challenges faced during the elections but emphasized the integrity of the process. The newly elected officials will serve a two-year term from 2026 to 2028.
