Police Dismiss Officers Over UNIPORT Graduate's Killing

The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed three officers linked to the killing of Anthony Obodo, a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, who was shot along Ada George in Port Harcourt last Thursday. The State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, announced this while parading the officers on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when a police team flagged down Obodo's vehicle, and Corporal Alfred Louis fired three shots, claiming Obodo refused to stop, which led to his death. Following an investigation, the officers were found culpable and dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force.

Additionally, Inspector Solomon Nwrogu, a member of the team who fled after the shooting, has been declared a deserter. Adepoju emphasized the command's commitment to professionalism and accountability, stating that no officer would be shielded from disciplinary action for misconduct.

The dismissed officers will face charges in court.
