Otti’s Aide Urges Journalists to Uphold Press Freedom

On Wednesday, Caleb Ajagba, the Chief of Staff to Abia State Governor Alex Otti, addressed members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists at the Abia State Council in Umuahia. He urged journalists to maintain objectivity in their reporting and to uphold press freedom, stating that the administration will not suppress the truth.

Ajagba emphasized the critical role of the media in holding government and business leaders accountable, asserting that a free press is essential for restoring order and sanity in society. He highlighted the ongoing transformation in Abia State under Governor Otti's leadership, noting positive developments and an influx of people into the state.

Ajagba also pointed out the administration's focus on worker welfare and institutional reforms, including measures to support the elderly. Steve Oko, the earlier chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, reaffirmed the commitment of journalists to hold the government accountable and urged the governor to sustain the momentum of development efforts.
