Osogbo Food Vendor Disappears with Millions in Payments

In Osogbo, Osun State, a food vendor has sparked outrage after allegedly absconding with millions of naira collected from residents as upfront payments for food items. The vendor attracted customers by offering significantly discounted prices, such as a 50kg bag of rice for N27,000 and 25 litres of cooking oil for N30,000.

Customers were required to pay in advance and return a week later to collect their purchases. However, on the designated collection day, customers found the vendor's shop at Odi-Olowo locked and all attempts to reach the vendor were unsuccessful, as their phone numbers were switched off.

Victims, including Bola, who paid N765,000, and Mr Tunde Kolapo, who paid N135,000, expressed their despair and frustration over the situation. Chief Ajagbe Oladunjoye, a community leader, remarked that the victims should have anticipated such an outcome, suggesting that those seeking unusually cheap goods should be prepared for potential consequences.
