US Mediation in Russia-Ukraine War Faces Stalemate

The United States has been mediating efforts to resolve the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, but progress has been limited over the past six months. The latest trilateral talks, which concluded in early February 2023 in Abu Dhabi, resulted in no significant breakthroughs, aside from agreements on prisoner exchanges and a commitment to continue discussions.

Following these talks, U.S. attention has turned towards its conflict with Iran, which began on February 28, 2023. On July 8, 2023, Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met at a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, where Trump pledged to allow Ukraine to produce its own Patriot interceptor missiles.

This move is expected to enhance Ukraine's defenses against Russian missile attacks. Additionally, Zelensky engaged with U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to explore avenues for achieving peace, as stated in a social media post by the Ukrainian president.
