US, UK Urged to Sanction Senator Fadaunsi Over Threats

Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has urged the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada to impose sanctions on Senator Francis Fadaunsi due to alleged threats made against members of the Accord Party in the lead-up to the Osun State governorship election. Adeyanju stated that he has petitioned these countries for visa restrictions and other measures against Fadaunsi if the allegations are substantiated.

He made these comments during an appearance on Arise TV’s Prime Time, emphasizing that Fadaunsi's remarks could incite violence against political opponents. Adeyanju expressed concern over the rising political tension in Osun State and highlighted the need for international pressure to deter such threats.

He also called on major political contenders in the election to denounce violence. Senator Fadaunsi represents the Osun East Senatorial District and previously defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress in July 2025.
