During a Senate plenary session on Thursday, Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, humorously referenced a viral video purportedly showing Adams Oshiomhole, a senator representing Edo North, receiving a leg massage from a woman aboard a private jet. Akpabio suggested that the Senate should ignore the footage, believing it to be generated by artificial intelligence.

His comments elicited laughter from fellow lawmakers. The video, which gained attention in early February 2026, sparked significant backlash and mockery, especially amid Nigeria's economic challenges.

Critics questioned the optics of public officials linked to such controversies. In response, Oshiomhole's media aide, Oseni Momodu, denied the video's authenticity, describing it as a poorly crafted AI fabrication aimed at blackmailing and embarrassing Oshiomhole.

He urged the public to verify online content and stated that efforts were underway to identify those responsible for circulating the video. Oshiomhole maintained that the footage was fabricated but did not provide independent forensic evidence to support his claim.
