Edo CP Orders Investigation into Police Clash Incident

The Edo State Police Command has ordered a discreet investigation into an altercation involving officers from the Edo State Traffic Management Agency and the Intelligence Response Team (IRT). This decision was prompted by a video shared on X, which depicted an IRT officer firing his rifle into the air during the incident.

In a statement released on Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Eno Ikoedem indicated that Commissioner of Police CP Patrick Daaor had interviewed representatives from both parties involved and mandated a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances of the clash. The statement emphasized that the conduct of the officer who discharged the rifle would undergo appropriate disciplinary review.

The command reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline and unprofessional conduct among its personnel, stating that any officer found culpable would face sanctions in accordance with existing laws. The command also highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration and urged the public to report any police misconduct through its Complaint Response Unit.
