Edo Police Reject Bribe, Recover Illegal Pistol from Suspects

The Edo North Safer Highway Unit operatives, under the command of spokesperson Eno Ikoedem, conducted a routine stop-and-search operation along the Auchi-Okene Expressway in Okpella. During this operation, they intercepted two unidentified young men on a motorcycle.

Upon approaching the checkpoint, the passenger attempted to bribe the officers, who refused and insisted on a search due to reasonable suspicion. The passenger then discarded his bag and fled into nearby bushes, while the motorcycle rider sped away.

A subsequent search of the abandoned bag revealed an Italian-made serviceable pistol with its breech number filed off. The police are actively working to identify, trace, and apprehend the fleeing suspects to bring them to justice.

Ikoedem stated that the command is committed to ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal elements, recover illegal firearms, and enhance public safety in the state.
