Pastors Ignorant of Politics, Says Femi Emmanuel

Femi Emmanuel, the presiding pastor of Living Spring Chapel International, criticized many pastors for their ignorance regarding politics during an interview on TVC. He argued that despite their passion for Nigeria, many church leaders lack understanding of government and policymaking.

Emmanuel emphasized that pastors often shout from the pulpit without being directly involved in governance or policy implementation. He referenced the controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket debate, stating that religious identity does not necessarily translate to benefits for the church.

He recalled the 2019 elections, mentioning the candidacy of Yemi Osinbajo, the former Vice President under Muhammadu Buhari, and noted that the role of Vice President is limited by Nigeria's constitutional arrangements. Emmanuel urged Christian youth and the wider public to become actively involved in grassroots politics instead of limiting their participation to prayer and sermons.

He criticized the belief that prayer alone can solve political problems and dismissed prophetic predictions about election outcomes as products of ignorance.
