Christians Must Engage in Politics to Avoid Bad Governance

Marian Talabi, the spiritual leader of Cherubim and Seraphim, warned that Christians risk enduring bad governance if they continue to avoid political involvement. At a press briefing in Lagos on Monday, commemorating the church's 50th anniversary, she urged believers to actively participate in politics to ensure that governance aligns with Christian values.

Talabi stated that Christians who refrain from political engagement have little moral ground to complain about decisions made by those whose values conflict with theirs. She emphasized the importance of having genuine Christians in government at all levels.

Talabi also encouraged Nigerian youths to assume leadership roles, referencing the late founder of the church, Maria Ogunyooye, who believed in empowering young people for leadership. The church's chairman, Segun Adelaja, noted the establishment of the ministry in 1976, marking the ongoing celebration as its golden jubilee.

Justice Adeola Adelaja, the Local Organising Chairman, mentioned ongoing projects initiated by Ogunyooye, including a clinic and a proposed auditorium.
