Kuje Council Chairman Threatens Residents Over APC Support

Samuel Shekwolo, the Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, issued a warning to residents in a video that circulated on social media, stating that those who do not support the All Progressives Congress (APC) should leave the council ahead of the 2027 general elections. Shekwolo justified his stance by referencing the developmental efforts of President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in Kuje.

He asserted that residents could not expect to benefit from government initiatives while voting against the APC. His remarks have raised concerns regarding the political discourse as the elections draw near.

This incident follows a recent controversy involving Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who faced backlash for threatening members of the Accord Party. The comments from Shekwolo have reignited discussions about the potential for inflammatory political rhetoric to escalate tensions and affect citizens' freedom to choose their political affiliations.

Shekwolo was elected as Kuje Area Council chairman on the APC platform in February 2026, receiving 17,269 votes.
