Obi Critiques Wike's Health Amid Election Concerns

Peter Obi, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, remarked that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State governor, looked healthier and happier during their political collaboration. Obi's comments were made on the online talk show 90 Minutes Africa, in response to Wike's assertion that he could become a target for opposition figures like Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar if President Bola Tinubu fails to secure re-election in 2027.

Wike, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while serving in Tinubu's cabinet, expressed concerns about his safety should the administration lose. He stated, “I will be the first politician that Atiku or Obi will hunt for his head.” Obi clarified that his presidential campaign is not aimed at pursuing political adversaries.

Wike has consistently supported Tinubu's re-election, despite his PDP affiliation, and has had ongoing political disagreements with Atiku since the 2022 PDP presidential primary.
