Davido Calls Edo Governor Okpebholo "Selected" Not Elected

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, publicly criticized Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, asserting that Okpebholo was "not elected" but "selected." This statement was made during an exclusive interview with News Central on Tuesday in Osun State, where Davido defended his decision to share Okpebholo's alleged West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result on social media. The controversy arose after Okpebholo mocked Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido's uncle, during political activities for the August 15 governorship election, suggesting that Adeleke was unfit for office due to his dancing.

Davido, who campaigned for Adeleke, stated he would not apologize for his post, emphasizing that he was protecting his uncle and the integrity of the state. He expressed concern for Okpebholo's children regarding their father's behavior and criticized Okpebholo for leaving Edo State to attack Adeleke in Osun State.
