WAEC Launches DigiCert for Digital Certification Access

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has initiated a significant transformation in its operations by rolling out a digital certification service known as WAEC DigiCert. This service is designed to enhance efficiency across its five member nations: Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.

According to Demianu Ojijeogu, who spoke on behalf of the registrar, the new platform will eliminate the cumbersome paperwork associated with traditional certification processes. WAEC DigiCert offers candidates the ability to access, request, and securely share digital copies of their certificates worldwide.

It also provides a solution for candidates who may have misplaced their examination numbers, allowing them to retrieve lost WAEC exam numbers. The system is expected to reduce administrative bottlenecks linked to manual certificate issuance and collection processes.

While the digital system is being introduced, physical certificate issuance will continue alongside to ensure that no candidate is left without certification.
