Yemisi Akintoye Selected as Referee for WAFCON 2026

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Nigerian referee Yemisi Akintoye among the match officials for the upcoming 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Akintoye, who became a FIFA-badged referee in 2021, successfully completed CAF's medical, physical, and technical assessments ahead of the tournament.

This appointment marks her first time officiating at Africa's biggest women's football competition. The WAFCON 2026 is scheduled to take place in Morocco from Sunday, July 26, to Sunday, August 16, where the Super Falcons of Nigeria will defend their championship title.
