Super Falcons Set to Defend Title at WAFCON 2026

Rasheedat Ajibade, captain of the Super Falcons, announced that the team is determined to maintain its status as the best in Africa as they prepare for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Under the guidance of coach Justine Madugu, the Super Falcons enter the tournament as one of the favorites, having won their record-extending 10th title in the previous edition by defeating Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses 3-2 in the final.

The team is focused on successfully defending their title and securing a place in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. Ajibade expressed confidence in the team's readiness, stating, “The team’s spirit is high.

Everyone is fully focused. We know why we’re here and we are ready to take things one step at a time.” The Super Falcons will kick off their campaign against the Scorchers of Malawi at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday night.
