Wales to Face Romania in June Friendly Match

Wales is set to play a friendly match against Romania on Saturday, June 6, at the Steaua Stadium in Bucharest. This encounter follows Wales' unsuccessful bid to qualify for the summer's World Cup, as they were eliminated in the playoff semi-final against Turkey.

The match will be a significant event, as it marks the first meeting between the two nations since 1993, when Wales, led by Paul Bodin, missed a penalty that contributed to their loss in the qualification campaign for the 1994 World Cup. The last competitive match between the teams occurred in May 1992, where Wales suffered a 5-1 defeat at the same stadium.

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) has also expressed condolences to the family of legendary former Romanian coach Mircea Lucescu, highlighting the deep ties between the two footballing nations. The friendly will serve as preparation for both teams ahead of the autumn fixtures.
