River Basin Workers Demand Salary Review and Promotions

Workers represented by the Agricultural and Allied Employees Union at the River Basin Development Authority are calling on the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation to review their salary structure and address outstanding promotion arrears dating back to 2019. During a meeting on Thursday, Ambros Igiebour, the chairman of the forum, emphasized the need for regular promotion exercises and increased investment in staff capacity development.

He described the engagement with Prof. Joseph Utsev, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, as the beginning of a new collaborative chapter.

The union pledged to maintain industrial harmony and urged the minister to prioritize worker welfare and enhance professional training. They also called for a policy review to allow qualified personnel to progress beyond the rank of director and executive positions.

Furthermore, the union requested that promotion exercises be conducted within the first quarter of each year to prevent delays in salary adjustments. The minister assured the union that their requests would be carefully examined.
