They refuted the police's claim that Sowore arrived at the facility with a bandage, calling it spurious. The legal team challenged the police to publicly release an inventory of Sowore's belongings upon his arrival.

They also criticized the police for swiftly denying assault allegations and remaining silent on other complaints, including alleged theft. Sowore's refusal to write a statement was defended by his legal team, citing constitutional provisions and the Police Act.

The team argued that this refusal was within Sowore's rights and could justify his arrest and detention.
