Police explain how Sowore got bandaged arm, deny torture, set for court

The Nigeria Police Force has refuted claims of torturing human rights activist Omoyele Sowore while in custody, following a viral picture showing him with a bandaged arm. Sowore, a former presidential candidate, is currently under investigation for alleged criminal offenses.

The police clarified that the bandage was part of Sowore's personal belongings and not a result of torture. Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi emphasized that Sowore was never mistreated during his time in custody and that the photo was misleading.

The police have launched an internal investigation to address the misinformation and ensure transparency. Sowore is expected to appear in court in the coming days to answer to the accusations against him through a lawful and transparent judicial process.
