Peter Obi Condemns Killings in Benue State Attack

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress for the 2027 election, condemned the recent attack in Ayilamo, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, which resulted in the deaths of at least 11 people, including four police officers. The attack occurred between Thursday night and early Friday, September 11, when suspected bandits invaded the farming community.

The Benue State Police Command reported that the attackers, numbering over 200, engaged in a gun battle with police operatives for about seven hours before being repelled. The Police Public Relations Officer, Peter Aondongu, confirmed the recovery of the bodies of the four slain officers and seven civilians.

Obi expressed sympathy for the victims' families and emphasized the need for the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to identify and prosecute those responsible for the violence. He stated that Nigeria cannot continue in a state where citizens and security personnel are repeatedly killed without effective solutions to insecurity.
