Lagos LAWMA Sweepers Face Harassment and Discrimination

LAWMA sweepers in Lagos are facing mistreatment, harassment, and unsafe working conditions as they strive to keep the city clean. The sweepers, including Morayo Show, Kafilat, Olatitoy Adeola, Taiwo Ologunro, and Victoria Bamgbos, shared stories of verbal abuse, intimidation, and neglect from motorists and roadside traders.

They highlighted challenges such as being forced to redo work, confrontations with residents dumping waste on cleared roads, and threats from hoodlums. Despite their efforts, the sweepers are often disrespected and face difficult working conditions.
