Cross River Assembly Clears Member of N1.6bn Kickback Allegation

The Cross River State House of Assembly has exonerated Cyril James Omini, a member representing Yakurr State Constituency, of receiving a N1.6 billion kickback from a private firm. The investigation, led by Deputy Speaker Sylvester Agabi, found no proof of the alleged financial transaction.

Omini vehemently denied the accusations and was commended for his transparency. Speaker Elvert Ayambem emphasized the importance of a fair hearing and due process.

The Assembly will convene a special committee to further investigate Omini's financial dealings with contractors handling road projects in Ugep and Ikot.
