PDP to Appeal Court Ruling on Leadership Recognition

The Turaki-led interim national working committee of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) announced plans to appeal a judgment from the Federal High Court in Abuja, which declined to recognize its leadership. The ruling, delivered on Friday by Justice Salim Olasupo Ibrahim, upheld a preliminary objection from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the committee's legitimacy.

The PDP, represented by Senator Adolphus Wabara, had sought a declaration for INEC to recognize the Turaki-led committee. Following the judgment, the PDP expressed its intention to appeal, asserting that the court's decision was flawed and did not align with existing legal precedents.

The party's spokesperson, Comrade Ini Ememobong, emphasized their commitment to pursuing justice and maintaining the integrity of the party against alleged political and monetary influences. The appeal process is expected to commence immediately as the PDP aims to secure its leadership recognition ahead of the 2027 elections.
