U.S. Firm to Report Adeyemi's Arrest to Trump Administration

A Washington-based lobbying firm, Von Batten Montagu York, associated with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, announced plans to report the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi to the Trump administration. Adeyemi, who claimed to be the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, was arrested by Nigerian police following a bench warrant issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The firm stated that Adeyemi's arrest was intended to prevent him from providing evidence to U.S. officials regarding allegations against Nigerian government officials. Adeyemi is expected to present documentary evidence and a sworn statement to U.S. authorities.

The firm alleged that the arrest was influenced by Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, to obstruct Adeyemi's engagement with U.S. Congress members.

The case has been adjourned until September 30, 2026, with allegations of conspiracy and forgery against Adeyemi, who reportedly paid 400 million naira for his appointment.
