PDP Assures Readiness for 2027 Elections to IRI Team

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), supported by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, confirmed its readiness to participate in the 2027 general elections during a meeting with the International Republican Institute (IRI) Pre-election Assessment Mission. National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed stated that the PDP is dedicated to ensuring credible, free, and fair elections, emphasizing the electorate's role in leadership selection.

He referenced the recent Osun State governorship election as evidence of Nigerian voters' capacity to choose their leaders. Mohammed highlighted the PDP's democratic structure across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as the 774 local government areas.

He assured the IRI mission that the party would provide further details on its election strategy. Jenai Cox, IRI African Regional Director, explained that the mission aims to engage various stakeholders to assess the political environment and preparations for the upcoming elections, with recommendations to be shared after their assessment.
