UNICAL VC Prof. Offiong Addresses Certificate Forgery Issues

During the 38th convocation ceremony of the University of Calabar, Vice Chancellor Prof. Offiong Offiong disclosed that the institution is actively tracking perpetrators involved in certificate forgery.

The forgers are reportedly using computer design to create fake certificates. Prof.

Offiong urged anyone approached for financial inducements in exchange for admission to report such incidents. He highlighted that certain individuals have attempted to solicit money for admission, which undermines the integrity of the institution.

The Vice Chancellor reassured that disciplinary actions would be taken against those involved in these fraudulent activities. He also mentioned that the institution has already sanctioned some officials linked to admission rackets and is committed to confronting these issues to maintain the university's prestigious status.

The convocation ceremony is set to begin on April 2, 2026.
