David Mark Calls for Unity to Rescue Nigeria from Insecurity

During the National Opposition Summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State, David Mark, the chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), delivered a speech underscoring the critical need for a united opposition to address Nigeria's escalating insecurity and governance issues. He pointed out that in 2025 alone, Nigeria recorded 12,000 conflict-related deaths, surpassing countries in active war such as Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.

Mark criticized the current government for its indifference to the plight of citizens, who face daily threats from banditry, terrorism, and violent crime. He stated that the government's failure to protect its citizens has led to a significant rise in kidnappings and killings, with at least 1,400 Nigerians killed or abducted in the first three months of the year.

Mark called for a mission to rescue Nigeria, emphasizing that the opposition must prioritize the people's welfare over partisan interests, as the current regime has shown a willingness to suppress dissent and undermine democratic institutions.
