Desmond Elliot Alarms Over Security Withdrawal Before APC Primary

Desmond Elliot, a popular Nollywood actor and current member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Surulere, expressed alarm over the withdrawal of his security personnel shortly before the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections set for May 20, 2026. In a viral video shared on social media, Elliot accused local party leaders of intimidating members to support specific aspirants in the primary contest.

He claimed that individuals loyal to him were reportedly removed from positions within the local government structure, suggesting a politically coercive environment. Elliot lamented that he was left without security and felt vulnerable, stating, "What have I done?" This situation arises amid growing political tensions within the Lagos APC, particularly following reported strains in the relationship between Femi Gbajabiamila and Mudashiru Obasa, with allegations of an attempted impeachment of Obasa.

Elliot, who has served in the Lagos Assembly since 2015 on the APC platform, later apologized for his comments during an appearance on TVC's program.
