Tensions Rise Between Ondo Governor and Deputy Governor

Tensions are reportedly building within the Ondo State Government, focusing on the relationship between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Deputy Governor Dr Olayide Adelami. Allegations suggest that over N180 million in running costs, travel allowances, and other entitlements owed to Adelami's office have gone unpaid for months, impacting its functionality.

The Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omomumi Isaac, is implicated in withholding these payments, yet neither she nor the state government has publicly clarified the situation. Additionally, political concerns have emerged, with claims that Adelami has been excluded from appointments and grassroots decisions typically associated with the deputy governor's role.

Reports indicate that he has faced challenges in influencing local councillor selections. Furthermore, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, led by Amidu Takuro, is said to have operated without adequate consultation with Adelami's office.

Despite these issues, the situation remains a strain rather than a confirmed crisis.
